Meet the team…introducing Scott Holden (Operations Director)

We continue our introductions to the brilliant Baypoint team. Here we meet Scott Holden…

Hi Scott, so what’s your role at Baypoint?

Hi, I’m the Operations Director; I try to ensure everything here at Baypoint runs as smoothly and as efficiently as possible for our members and guests.

In terms of sport, why is Baypoint the right choice?

Baypoint is the only real choice locally. Despite Baypoint being a not-for-profit organisation, we’re focussed on delivering the highest level of sports coaching, on the best indoor and outdoor facilities in South East Kent.

We have a sport for everyone, including football, squash, badminton, pickleball, basketball, netball to name just a few. We also have a warm and comfortable sports bar and restaurant for all those parents and carers tasked with the club runs on cold wintery nights.

Baypoint is driven on its desire to improve and diversify; and it’s the drive of the club owners, the staff and all the way through to the volunteer coaches, that we want players of all sports representing both themselves and Baypoint at the highest level possible.

We can already boast fully capped international players representing England and Baypoint in one of our sports so why not others?!

What has been your Baypoint highlight of 2022?

To pick just one highlight would be tough, but we ran our very first white-collared boxing evening earlier in 2022 and the whole evening welcomed over 600 guests, who enjoyed a fantastic nights’ entertainment. Baypoint was alive on this evening!

Another highlight would be seeing our gym memberships grow from 200 to around 900, and our sports memberships now top the 400 mark, which gives you an indication of success. Only two-and-a-half years ago we had not a single sports club…now we have 400+ members across multiple Baypoint clubs.

Where do you see the future of Baypoint?

At Baypoint, we see the future exactly as it was when we started this journey two-and-a-half years ago; where our drive was to be at the heart of our communities (Thanet and Dover districts) pushing to improve health and wellbeing for all.

The future here at Baypoint is limitless and we will soon be in a position to facilitate many more sports clubs and events through planned investment, such as a new 11 v 11 3G football pitch, purpose-built paddle tennis courts, the refurbishment and upgrading of our current 3G and multi-surface courts, the provision of even more outdoor sports courts, plus the resurfacing of our indoor sports facilities.

Clearly, even more exciting times ahead at Baypoint to look forward to. So, what are your plans for Christmas?

My personal plan for Christmas is to spend some quality time with my family, recharge the batteries and prepare to hit 2023 hard!

Many thanks to Scott. Plenty to come at Baypoint in 2023.

Make sure to keep an eye all the upcoming Baypoint events and latest news.
